Minor flaw in my rating system that slightly favors independent teams: because conference strength-of-schedule is part of the AI formula, I have to put in something there for independents, so I use their individual SOS. If an independent team has played a really tough schedule, they get rewarded twice. And so Notre Dame sits at 20 this week. If it makes the ND haters feel any better (because I know their happiness depends on where their least-favorite team sits in a completely inconsequential ranking system), they have had the 4th toughest schedule so far and it’s sure to regress throughout the season.
